It's not ok, sings Karamanti in 'Domestic Abuse'

Reggae singer Karamanti recently released a riveting single 'Domestic Abuse' on the Reggae Land Rhythm, produced by Street Digital Records label.

The single, which highlights the physical and psychological effects on women who find themselves in abusive relationships, has been getting tremendous feedback. Many women, locally and abroad, have commended the effort by the artiste to bring to the forefront the subject of domestic abuse, as it is a known fact that many of society's women suffer silently at the hands of their abusive partners.

Karamanti, originally from Kingston, is noted as being one female artiste that is unapologetically potent in the delivery of her music, as she strikes hard at any issue, social, religious, political, or matters of the heart, and uses her music as a vehicle to uplift, educate, and inspire anyone who listens.

As such, she has produced tracks such as Hold On, Bun Andrew N Portia and War We A War.

When interviewed about her single Domestic Abuse, and her reason for writing the song, she had this to say.

"A close friend of mine was being physically and verbally abused by her boyfriend. This is a very intelligent woman, but still she lost herself and self-esteem within that abusive relationship. So I took to writing a song that would let any other woman listening, that it's not ok for a man to hit them, and it won't get better. They have to get out of that relationship, or possibly end up permanently scarred or even killed," she said, explaining how the song came about.
