Dan Marcus - Profile



Dan Marcus was born Mark Johnson on October 17th in Belize City. Dan Marcus was raised by his mother and grandmother along with his 4 brothers and 1 sister.
He wasn’t aware of his musical abilities until late in his life after dropping out of high school and discovering the Rastafarian faith. After realising he had skills in music Dan Marcus began performing everywhere and every time he had the opportunity performing for his friends and family wherever he could on street corners at house parties and local events. He started his rise in the buisness in 1998 after introducing himself to Mose “the mad rocker” hyde (who was a popular disc jockey and radio personality in Belize at the time) He awarded the young singjay the opportunity to blaze the airwaves live with his fiery brand of conscious dancehall music. After mashing up the place live on the radio Hyde was impressed and quickly booked the young singjay studio time at a local recording studio.

In the same week Dan Marcus I finished crafting his debut effort along with Jamaican Entertainer “Boom Blast” the first single “Free-up yoself” was an instant hit followed by “Early morning” which was adopted by Hyde for his morning show “Wake up Belize morning vibe” this was the break out song which would propelled Dan Marcus I to national acclaim and make him a household name. The song was and is a staple in the diets of the average working class Belizeans.
His Work Shortly after Dan Marcus was introduced to Lee Reynolds A.K.A Fade Lee by a mutual friend the 2 quickly developed and established a working relationship between each other which paved the way for the creation of Heights A Vibez Production a local production studio owned and operated by the 2.
In 2002 Heights A Vibez released their debut album “The Seed” followed by “Haul DI Crowd” in 2003 in 2004 Dan Marcus released his debut album “The Royal Rebel” which quickly established him as a musical powerhouse in Belize thanks to the Counteraction of the famous Tanya Steven track “its a pity”, in 2005 Heights A Vibez released “The Best Of Heights A Vibez 2005″.

In July of 2006 Dan Marcus released “When I Rise” Before migrating To The U.S. Where He Linked Up with Childhood Friend Bert Mckoy And His Crew Empire Family Who Took “Dan Marcus” Under Their Wings , In 2008 Dan Marcus Established His Own Label Rebellious Entertainment And Started Releasing Various Mixtapes Under The Imprint, With The Now Combined Forces Of Rebellious Ent And Empire Family (RebelEmpire) Quickly Established Themselves In The Local Los Angeles Dancehall scene.
The Future

Dan Marcus has recently release His Self-Titled International Debut “Dan Marcus” Ep Under his Rebellious Ent imprint Which Is Currently doin well.Dan Marcus I has Headlined and opened shows for acts such as Vybz Kartel, Movado, Assasin, Sizzla, Capelton, Buju Banton, Turbulence, Fantan Mojah, I-Wayne, Bascom X, Jr.kelley, Half Pint, Beenie Man, Lady Saw and General Degree and a host of local and international artists. Dan Marcus is A Bonifide Rising Star on the horizon”s of his ambitions and he would like to thank all those who have supported him and are continuing to support him on his quest.
